GoMacro Reflects On An Amazing Year

It’s been quite a year for GoMacro! From launching our Bigger Than A Bar campaign to helping plant over 18,000 trees, 2019 was a year of many accomplishments. Here are a few highlights of an amazing year.

A Big Launch

In January, GoMacro launched the successful Bigger Than A Bar campaign, highlighting GoMacro’s passion for the planet, our health, our food, and the idea that small choices add up to big change.

Sustainability

We continued our commitment to sustainability and preserving the planet in 2019. Following momentum from 2018, our annual recycling goals were even more ambitious. We diverted food scraps, old work shoes,nut- butter and syrup pails, and alkaline batteries from the landfill. In total, we created 124 tons of waste and byproducts and we were able to recycle or reuse 96.8 tons of it, which is 78% of our overall output. We successfully recycled more than we landfilled in 2019! We’re looking forward to creating new ways to attain our goal of “zero waste” in 2020.

Give Back Bars

Throughout 2019, GoMacro donated a portion of the net sales of three Give Back Bars to amazing community organizations, including Feeding San Diego, Solutions For Change, Farm Sanctuary, and the Keep A Breast Foundation. We also donated thousands of MacroBars to local food pantries.

New Flavors, New Favorites

In July, GoMacro was thrilled to announce the delicious, nut-free additions of Maple Sea Salt and Oatmeal Chocolate Chip to the MacroBar lineup.

GoMacro At Costco

In September, GoMacro was excited to announce that two of our top-selling MacroBars, Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip and Coconut + Almond Butter + Chocolate Chips, were available at 26 Costco stores in northern California.

Yoga With Koya Webb

Also in September, we teamed up with long-time partner, Keep A Breast, to kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a Fit 4 Prevention yoga and wellness event featuring celebrity holistic coach, Koya Webb. Fit 4 Prevention is a national movement by Keep A Breast to raise awareness about breast cancer prevention through fitness and wellness. For everyone involved, it was truly an amazing day!

Trade Shows

In March, we proudly debuted our newest nut-free flavors to more than 80,000 wellness enthusiasts at Expo West in Anaheim, California. Both flavors received rave reviews from retailers and show visitors. This fall, we traveled to both Philadelphia and Miami for the Food & Nutrition Conference and the Food + Wine Festival, respectively. We shared our bars and our commitment to providing the highest quality ingredients with retail partners, educators, and guests.

Visiting Our Organic Almond Supplier In Italy

We traveled to southern Italy with our friends from Once Again Nut Butter to visit organic almond farmers, Damiano Organics. We met their families, witnessed a harvest, helped gather newly-fallen almonds off the ground, and walked the bountiful rows of almond trees. For Amelia, Jola, and her daughter Mila, three generations of the GoMacro family, the trip was educational and fulfilling, carrying out a family mission to support responsible growing practices around the world.

2019 was a monumental year for all of us here at GoMacro. We look forward to continuing to spread our mission of living a plant-based, sustainable lifestyle with our growing community, while continuing to create products to fuel all of your 2020 adventures.
