GoMacro Joins the “Growing For Good” Composting Program

People planting plants in compost

All around the country, landfills are filling up, garbage incineration is becoming increasingly unpopular, and other waste disposal options are becoming ever harder to find. In an effort to do our part, GoMacro has joined the “Growing For Good” Compost Pickup Program as a way to eliminate waste and create a regular habit of composting. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, 20 percent of what goes into municipal landfills is food. Composting not only helps keep kitchen scraps and other organic wastes out of landfills, but it also transforms the waste into a soil-like product called compost that is useful for gardening, landscaping and house plants.

All food scraps and organic material are collected, placed in a bucket and picked up once a week by the “Growing For Good” team. Once its been collected, the compost material is then turned into nutrient-rich soil that is either given back, or donated to a local farm or community garden.
