Position Description:

The Garden Team Member will assist in tending to the various duties in an outside environment to maintain the gardens/vegetable gardens. This position requires a consistent effort toward accomplishing daily tasks with attention to detail of the garden, orchard, prairie and pond aesthetics. The Garden Team member will take direction from the Garden Supervisor and be responsible to complete tasks without constant supervision.   

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with necessary gardening tasks including, but not limited to: soil preparation, weeding, composting, mulching, seeding, planting, transplanting, watering, staking and maintenance of gardens, including flowerbeds and paths
• General plant knowledge and a desire to learn
• General knowledge of gardening tools and landscape equipment
• Assist in care of vegetables, fruits and, herbs  
• Assist with harvest of various plants possibly on a daily/weekly basis.
• Understanding and willingness to follow safe work practices
• Willingness to assist others and work as a team
• Promote healthy communication between all Farm and Garden team members. 
• Other duties as assigned

Skills Required:

• Good communication skills
• Self-starter possessing great multi-tasking and problem-solving skills
• Ability to undertake manual labor
• Able to work outside in normal Wisconsin weather from early spring until late fall
• Must demonstrate high standard of professionalism
• Adhere to all company safety rules and guidelines
• Landscape work and garden experience is a plus

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 80 lbs
• Ability to bend / twist
• Ability to stand for extended periods

Language Skills:

• Ability to read and interpret English language documents such as safety rules, operations and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
• Ability to speak effectively to customers and/or employees of the company

Travel Required:

No travel will be required with this position.
