All GoMacro boxes are made from molded pulp which is 100% post consumer corrugated waste. The boxes are 100% biodegradable and compostable. We have planted wheat grass in them and we also use them as seed starters. They can be planted directly in the ground. They can take a few weeks to compost so depending on the root size you may want to remove the bottom.

Our MacroTreats are packaged in Innovia Films "NatureFlex", a biodegradable and compostable film that helps to fulfill our commitment for sustainable and eco-friendly products. The film begins life as a natural wood product and after use can be placed in your home compost bin.

Natureflex is a cellulose-based film manufactured from renewable wood pulp. The film is certified to meet both the European and American standards for compostable packaging. It is the only metallized biodegradable film suitable for home composting because the level of metal is less than 0.02%. This slows the film's degradation by a matter of days, but does not interfere with its biodegradability. The metal acts as a barrier against oxygen, odors, moisture and bacteria and helps ensure that all our products remain fresh. In the decomposition process the ultra-thin coating of aluminum oxidizes and turns into aluminum oxide which is inert and non toxic. The wood pulp is sourced exclusively from plantations following sustainable forestry principles and the wood-pulp suppliers conform to the environmental standard ISO 14001.

Our MacroBar wrappers are being sent to Terracycle to be recycled and made into bags that will be available at participating retail stores. Terracycle contributes two cents to a charitable organization for every MacroBar wrapper that they receive. The wrappers are made into shopping bags, diaper bags, backpacks, pencil cases and many other useful items.
