Eat Candy and Live Longer
Sep

People who eat candy live one year longer than people who never eat candy. This is an interesting statistic which I heard over the weekend. The opposite of what one would expect. It comes from a well known 1998 medical research study from the Harvard School of Public Health.

Immune system boosters

Our immune system is extremely important to our health. It helps get rid of infections and helps us heal faster. For it to function properly we need a lot of nutrients and the older we get the more we need, but our body does not absorb nutrients as well as it did when we were younger; so what to do. I am not a believer in taking lots of pills. I prefer to get my nutrients from natural sources and healthy drinks in between meals can provide a big boost to your immune system.

If you have been diagnosed with cancer

I received a comment from Kelly on one of my blogs and she asked me to tell her more about the role of macrobiotics in fighting cancer. I made some comments about nutrition with brief references to some research and to the Kushi Institute. Thinking about my response, I realised that there is a lot more that I would like to say to anybody that is diagnosed with cancer.

Eat Mesquite
Oct

We are always on the lookout for new, interesting ingredients for our products and we used mesquite in two of our MacroNutrient Bars; the Cashew Mesquite and the Chocolate Crunch. The mesquite that we use is ground from the seed pods of the mesquite plant, found in many arid areas including the Southwest. It's extensive root system can fix nitrogen, helping to enrich desert soils and in a drought it will shed its leaves to conserve moisture.
