Recent Published Studies on Arsenic
Feb

We have had some enquiries concerning the recent publicized research on arsenic in brown rice syrup. Research like this thrusts food safety into the public consciousness. At GoMacro we have a macrobiotic background and healthy food is of the utmost importance to us. We welcome research that provides greater insights into the food that we eat and we support any legislation that would limit the levels of harmful substances in food including arsenic.

Why are nightshade vegetables forbidden in the macrobiotic diet
Jul
13

few days ago somebody commented that they could never go on a macro diet because the nightshade vegetables are forbidden. For those who don't know, nightshades come from the family Solanaceae and include tomatoes, peppers, eggplant and potatoes. These are for many of us some of our most popular vegetables. We certainly do not remember that there was a time when they were considered poisonous and only grown as ornamentals. All nightshade vegetables contain solanine, a nicotine compound.
